Construction Program Application

This is a new program starting at Vertus on January 18th, 2021. The program will run as an elective class, once a week (two different sections) for 80 minutes at a time. Vertus is bringing in an outside instructor, Ken Day from Rochester Housing Authority, to teach the class. The class will consist of short lectures with mostly hands-on/project based learning. The course will cover basic carpentry, framing, dry wall, painting and basic electrical work.  Students will work with hand and power tools. There is an opportunity for students to earn their OSHA (Occupational Safety and Health Administration) certificate at the end of the course. Students who complete the class will also have the opportunity to apply for a job at Higher Calling Construction. Attendance at every class is mandatory.
